About Velvet

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
Attention....this pup is in Yakima, WA and must be picked up there. This wonderful little pup is VELVET. She is a purebred Boxer and is 9 weeks old. Her father was a large Boxer and the mother a smaller size, I was told, so VELVET will probably be somewhere in between. Her nose is just like black velvet and so kissable and soft :o) VELVET will be ready for adoption around 11-6-09. Because VELVET is still so very young there needs to be an adult home during the day to continue working with her on training and socialization. After she has received all her puppy vaccines, daily walks would help form her into a well balanced adult dog. You must exercise this active breed which will help with her energy, and not just thinking that her running in the back yard alone will be enough. Boxers MUST be properly trained and have committed humans. They take longer to mature and are 'puppy like' for over a year to two years of age. These are not generally a breed of dog for a first time dog person or family. A secure fenced yard is required. An invisible fence is not acceptable. It doesn't protect a young pup from larger dogs coming into the yard. A home inspection will be done and I am sorry but I cannot adopt this pup to anyone in an apartment or condo where there is a common area for the dog to potty in, as this is where pups can easily pick up Parvo. Because of the playfulness of Boxers with their front feet, a puppy would not be a good choice in a home with children under about 8 years of age. VELVET is too young to be spayed so a prepaid spay receipt is due from your veterinarian at time of adoption. She will be current on vaccines, worming and micro-chipped before adoption. FOR ADOPTION APPLICATION PLEASE EMAIL: lifesavers@charter.net Please do not contact Collar of Hope regarding this pup.
