About Joey

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
ATTENTION: THIS IS A COURTESY POST FOR LIFESAVERS RESCUE IN YAKIMA. PLEASE CONTACT THEM ONLY. You have to meet this special, so quiet and easy going dog. He is one of those gentle souls we find in our fur friends. JOEY is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. JOEY weighs about 14# and is tricolored. The veterinarian believes he is about 5 years old. He has a medium, soft hair coat. JOEY very seldom barks, asks for nothing and waits patiently for a pat on the head, to be hugged or given a treat. He is kind and loves to be held and given attention. JOEY is not shy but not assertive either. I call him a ‘soft’ personality. Everyone who meets him describes him as sweet and that is just what he is. VERY sweet. JOEY gets along very well with other dogs and is happy to share toys and beds but at this point doesn’t play with the other dogs. Being with other dogs here might be a first for him or he might just not need to interact with them for playtime. At night he shares lap space on the couch with several other small dogs with no problems. He sleeps in a dog bed at night or if allowed loves to sleep on the human bed and once he lays down, he is down for the night. He is quite well mannered and he uses the dog door to go in and out but doesn’t seem to be completely house broken yet but once he would settle in and have a routine, he would learn to only go outside. JOEY was given a thorough exam by the veterinarian on 11-11-14 with several X-rays taken of his hips and back legs as he has a limp. He does not have hip dysplasia or arthritis in the hips but has some slight arthritis in his back knees but my veterinarian said good joint supplements would help this along with easy exercise. At one time Joey had a torn cruciate in his back left leg but it was repaired, and this is why he limps a little. We will have blood tests back in a few days to know how everything else is. JOEY would be the perfect dog for a retired couple wanting a gentle companion and someone who is home most of the time. He loves to go for car rides and is very good in the car. He is great to bath and brush. He would do good going for walks also. I cannot say enough good about this precious dog.He is one of those rescue dogs we get in that when we find just the right home for them, when they leave they take a piece of our heart with them. JOEY is neutered and current with vaccines and micro chipped. His adoption fee will be to cover the medical expenses we have had on him so we could tell people everything about his physical condition.
