Hunter came to us, along with another dog, after their older owner fell ill and couldn't go back home. He was likely not in a good way for a while as both dogs were severely neglected. Sadly we couldn't save the other dog but Hunter is doing great now.
When Hunter arrived, he was half bald, intact, has severe dental disease and as it turned out, thyroid disease. This is very easy to manage and very inexpensive; annual testing to insure med is still the correct dose and we get the meds in 90 supplies for less than $30 so very affordable. He just needs his half pill every morning and evening with his food. He does need a good canned food diet (no grocery store poor quality diet) (or soft raw diet like dehydrated raw) that's easier for him to eat and keeps more fluid in him as he doesn't drink much.
The boys arrived with zero concept of potty training. We have kept him in an enclosure with a bed and potty pads down. We also fold potty pads on his bed to keep it cleaner. If you're familiar with belly bands, that may be an option, we've never used them preferring to try to work on training and good schedules instead. Due to poor potty habits, he needs a bath once or twice a week but he's easy to bathe.
He needs a SECURELY fenced yard to keep him safe! When he's out and about, he can get pretty fast buzzing around! He doesn't care about other dogs and gets upset if they bug him but otherwise is fine with them being around.
We loves, loves, loves to be on a lap or cradled in the crook of your arm on his back like a baby. He's not used to being confined in a crate or pen and can be vocal about it.
This poor guy has been through the wringer and he really deserves a great person/people who will love him and take great care of him the rest of his days
We do not have an exact age or breed mix (we do trim up his fur as necessary) and cannot entertain a guess on how long he may live.
PLEASE:
NO LARGER DOGS
NO KIDS
